Een rapportage van DCI-P (Defence for Children International - Palestine) vermeldt het door Israel doelbewust schieten op werkende kinderen, een wel heel bijzondere actie tegen kinderarbeid.

The Methodical Shooting of Boys at Work in Gaza, 23-1-2011
The deliberate injury of the limbs of 23 boys by high velocity weapons has been logged and described by Defence for Children International – Palestine Branch (DCI-P) since March 2010. (1) Some of the facts have been published in national newspapers. These barbarous acts contravene international and national law but there are no judicial responses. The caring professions see the physical and mental pain of those who suffer and they should be in the vanguard in calling for this great cruelty to cease forthwith. Political leaders have failed to act. The Geneva Conventions Act 1957, which is of central importance in holding war criminals to account in the jurisdiction of the UK, is being emasculated.
... The shooting to wound and kill Palestinians is relentless. DCI-P notes that according to a UN study, between January 2009 and August 2010, at least 22 Palestinian civilians in Gaza have been killed and 146 injured in the arbitrary live fire zone adjacent to the border with Israel and imposed at sea. At least 27 of these civilians were children. It also notes that the targeting of civilians is absolutely prohibited under international law, regardless of circumstances. ....

Abdallah Abu Rahma, Palestijns antimuur-activist, langer gevangen gezet.
Amnesty International veroordeelt het door Israel gevangen zetten van Abdallah Abu Rahma, leider van het geweldloos verzet tegen 'de Muur'.
Uit Bericht Amnesty International 11-01-2011:
"By extending Abdallah Abu Rahma's sentence the Israeli authorities appear to be seeking not only to punish him further in a case where the prosecution’s evidence was questionable to begin with, but to deter others from participating in legitimate protests," said Philip Luther, Amnesty International's Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa.
"Amnesty International believes Abdallah Abu Rahma to be a prisoner of conscience, jailed solely for the peaceful exercise of his right to freedom of expression and assembly. As such we call for his immediate and unconditional release."
Abdallah Abu Rahma was found guilty of "organizing and participating in an illegal demonstration" and "incitement" by an Israeli military court on 24 August 2010. He was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment on 11 October 2010.
De internationale vakbeweging veroordeelt sinds jaren (o.a. op haar congres van december 2004) de illegale Israelische muurbouw in de bezette gebieden.

EU-diplomaten pleiten voor productenboycot en voor 'steviger EU-aanwezigheid'.
EU-diplomaten, vooral consuls, in Jeruzalem en Ramallah pleiten in een rapport voor een boycot van Israelische producten uit Oost Jeruzalem en ze roepen op tot EU-aanwezigheid bij huisverwoestingen en bij huisuitzettingen. Ook pleiten ze voor interventie wanneer vreedzaam activistische Palestijnen worden gearresteerd of geïntimideerd door de Israelische autoriteiten.

The Tribunal finds legal support for these initiatives in the Opinion of the International Court of Justice on the Wall, in which the Court stated that there exists an erga omnes obligation to refrain from recognizing or in any way supporting the illegality that arises from the conduct of Israel by building the Wall and violating international humanitarian law.

Jawaher Abu Rahmah, de eerste 'Muurdode' van 2011
Op nieuwjaarsdag overleed Jawaher Abu Rahmah vanwege vergiftiging door traangas, dat het Israelische leger gebruikt tegen Palestijnse demonstraties tegen 'de Muur'. Zij is daarmee de eerste 'Muurdode' van 2011.
Jawaher Abu Rahmah, a 34-year-old woman from Bil’in, died this morning in a Ramallah hospital as result of poisoning caused by tear gas inhalation. Jawaher fainted after inhaling a large quantity of gas during the weekly protest against the Wall in Bil’in and was rushed immediately to Ramallah for treatment, where she remained until passing away this morning. ........

Trouw 29-12-2010: Israël is bang voor de ban
In Israël groeit de vrees voor een internationaal isolement, nu het maar niet lukt om het vredesproces op gang te krijgen. Popartiesten laten het land al links liggen. Vergaat het Israël net als Zuid-Afrika?
Wat hebben zanger Elvis Costello, rockband The Pixies, actrice Meg Ryan, rocklegende Carlos Santana en filmregisseur Mike Leigh met elkaar gemeen? Antwoord: ze behoren tot de artiesten die de afgelopen tijd om politieke redenen hun bezoek aan Israël hebben afgezegd.
Nog voor de rechtse regering van premier Netanjahoe in de lente van 2009 aantrad, wezen commentatoren in Israëlische media op het gevaar dat een gebrek aan voortgang in het vredesproces Israël verder in zijn isolement zou drijven. In feite waren toen, na een jaar onderhandelen, de gesprekken tussen Israël en de Palestijnen door de oorlog in de Gazastrook enkele maanden eerder al op de sluimerstand gezet.
Anderhalf jaar later verkeert het vredesproces in een diep coma. De Israëliërs weigeren de bouw van de nederzettingen te staken, de Palestijnen willen niet verder praten zonder zo’n bouwstop. De VS proberen de zaak nog altijd vlot te trekken, omdat, zoals onderhandelaar George Mitchell uitlegde, helemaal niets doen gevaarlijker is.
